A collaborative project between Petratex and Eurojersey
Performance does not come from a single element. It is the result of the interaction between materials, construction and technologies, developed in relation to one another from the very early stages of the project. This vision gives rise to OPTICAL MOTION, a project developed by EUROJERSEY and PETRATEX, a Portuguese garment engineering and manufacturing company specialized in technical apparel. The aim is to explore a new idea of performance wear, where fabric and garment are no longer considered as separate elements, but as integral parts of one creative and design process.
Cycling becomes the laboratory in which this vision takes shape: a world where speed, aerodynamics, comfort and freedom of movement require perfect synergy between the body, materials and construction.
But OPTICAL MOTION looks beyond cycling. At its heart is a new way of developing products: Engineered Together.
Optical motion
The project takes its name from its visual identity. Inspired by the language of Op Art, the collection interprets movement through textures, surfaces and contrasts that create depth, rhythm and a continuous perception of speed.
Three-dimensional structures become an integral part of the design; surfaces interact with light; reflective elements appear and disappear with movement.
Aesthetics are not applied to performance as a final layer: they are developed together with it. Every detail emerges from the meeting point between function and visual language, transforming technical characteristics into a distinctive aesthetic identity.
Fabric meets engineering
This is where the two areas of excellence come together.
EUROJERSEY brings more than 65 years of textile research and innovation to the project, developing warp-knitted fabrics capable of combining performance, comfort, stretch, breathability and durability through a fully integrated manufacturing process in Italy.
PETRATEX contributes 37 years of experience in garment engineering and technical apparel development, integrating design, product development, 3D technologies and advanced manufacturing processes. Two complementary areas of expertise that, within OPTICAL MOTION, come together from the very beginning.
What’s next?
OPTICAL MOTION was not created simply as a cycling capsule. It is a first tangible demonstration of what a new model of collaboration between EUROJERSEY and PETRATEX could become: a joint service capable of supporting brands from defining their performance objectives through to the development of the finished product.
A tailor-made approach in which textile expertise, garment engineering, design and manufacturing are brought together to create specific solutions according to the product and the market. Because the future of performance will not be defined simply by a more technical fabric or a more advanced garment. It will be defined by the ability to make them evolve together.
